Consultation

What I do might best be described as a process of making friends with your garden (and hopefully with you !). My years with plants have taught me how to read habitat, whether it has a garden fence round it or not, to know which plants will do well there and how to help them flourish and look lovely. My principles are based on working with existing conditions to embody your wishes and hopes, rather than imposing theoretical ideas. I offer help in the form of ecological and aesthetic experience, and would like to help you be a happy gardener !

As well as knowing how to work with individual garden conditions, however quirky or awkward, and seeing what would grow best, I can also source and provide the plants at competitive prices.

Garden Design

If you want design as well as problem-solving and planting advice, I’m lucky enough to have friends and colleagues who can create and landscape really beautiful and original designs. They are Fiona Johnson and David Stubbins, working as an occasional partnership in West Somerset. Visitors to Taunton Flower Show during the last few years will remember their ‘best-in-show’ Bee Garden in 2009, and the movingly beautiful ‘Ray of Hope’ garden which was even more highly marked in 2011. They are both skilled in creating permanent gardens, as well as show plots, and although they undertake very few commissions, they can sometimes be persuaded to do so! Why not contact us to discuss your requirements?

Their awards include:
Fiona Johnson (with Vanessa Clegg), RHS Silver Medal, Tatton Park Flower Show 2002
Fiona Johnson (with Vanessa Clegg) RHS Silver-Gilt Medal, Tatton park Flower Show 2003
Fiona Johnson and David Stubbins, RHS Gold Medal, Tatton Park Flower Show 2007
Fiona Johnson and David Stubbins, Gold Medal and Western Daily Press Cup for Best in Show, Taunton Flower Show 2009
